Laboratory Assistant - Straight Nights
About The Position
Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role offers on-the-job phlebotomy training and excellent opportunities for career growth. The position involves working nights, with specific shift times varying between 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM or 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Part-time employees will work every other weekend, while full-time employees will work every third weekend. Three holidays per year are expected, along with five to six on-call weekends per year. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, collecting, preparing, and processing biological specimens. The role assists in performing laboratory activities, preparing specimens and supplies, and may be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results, ensuring accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) preferred
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred
- May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Responsibilities
- Phlebotomy
- Collecting, preparing and processing specimens biological specimens
- Assists in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks
- Aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies
- May be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results
- Ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment
