About The Position
Join Orlando Health as a Laboratory Assistant II! This full-time position is located at the ORMC Core Laboratory within the LAB MICRO/MOLECULAR department. Orlando Health is seeking a detail-oriented individual passionate about patient care to join their dedicated laboratory team. This role supports essential diagnostic services that impact patient outcomes.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of laboratory or patient care experience preferred
- Current students in Nursing, Medical Technology, Pre‑Med, or related science fields may substitute for required experience
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Flexibility to support departmental needs and varying schedules
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of specimen collection and handling
Responsibilities
- Receive, process, label, and prepare specimens for testing
- Register patients and enter laboratory orders with accuracy
- Process pathology specimens while maintaining specimen integrity
- Support patient registration and reimbursement workflows
- Assist with laboratory quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and work areas
- Deliver outstanding customer service to patients, clinicians, and team members
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards
- Assist with report distribution, filing, scheduling, and daily lab operations
- Perform phlebotomy as needed (with approved competency)
