The Laboratory Assistant II, also known as a specimen processor, is responsible and accountable for receiving, processing, labeling, and distributing specimens. This position requires a thorough understanding of laboratory specimens and the LIS computer systems. The Processor will also be required to perform customer service duties and other clerical duties as the job dictates. Key tasks include accurate and timely data entry of patient information, precise identification and labeling of specimens, preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, and proper preparation and storage of excess specimen samples. The role also involves resolving and documenting any problem specimens. The individual must be comfortable handling biological specimens and capable of working both independently and within a team environment.
