The position is for a Laboratory Assistant II at Northwest Community Hospital, a full-time role with specific evening hours (3pm-11:30pm, Monday-Friday) and rotating weekend and holiday shifts. The primary responsibility of this role is specimen processing, which involves receiving, processing, labeling, and distributing specimens. The individual must possess a thorough understanding of laboratory specimens and be proficient in using LIS computer systems. Beyond technical tasks, the Processor is also expected to handle customer service and various clerical duties. Specific duties include accurate and timely data entry of patient information, precise identification and labeling of specimens, preparing specimens for analysis and testing, and correctly preparing and storing excess samples. A key aspect of the role is the ability to resolve and document any issues with specimens. The job requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, and comfortability with handling biological specimens is essential.
