About The Position

The specimen processor is responsible and accountable for receiving, processing, labeling, distributing specimens. The position requires a thorough understanding of laboratory specimens as well as the LIS computer systems. The Processor will be required to perform customer service duties and other clerical duties as the job dictates.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
3 months or more of specimen processing experience.
Thorough understanding of laboratory specimens as well as the LIS computer systems.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Comfortability with handling biological specimens.

Responsibilities

Receiving, processing, labeling, and distributing specimens.
Performing customer service duties and other clerical duties.
Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
Accurately identifying and labeling specimens.
Preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Properly preparing and storing excess specimen samples.
Resolving and documenting any problem specimens.
