This role is a Laboratory Assistant-Histology position with hours of 40hrs, a day shift from 7:30am - 4:00pm, located at St. Luke's Hospital - New Bedford, MA.

Requirements

Successful completion of High School or equivalency required.
Up to and including one year experience.
Combination of education and experience as a microbiology specimen processor/lab assistant equivalent for at least 6 months accepted.
Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Nice To Haves

Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform basic pre-analytical technical and clerical duties including but not limited to: specimen receipt, specimen integrity acceptability, specimen processing, assist with basic hazardous chemical waste disposal, stain filtration and set up for fresh froze section reagents, and cleaning of instruments.
