Laboratory Assistant: Blood Bank
About The Position
Responsible for collecting blood units from donors at blood drives or in donor rooms. Duties include performing vital signs, donor interview, phlebotomy and post donation care. Ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment. Hours vary based on bloodmobile locations. Start times as early as 515AM and can return as late as 730PM. Rotate weekends and overnights. No holidays. Assists in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks. Aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies. May be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results. Ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) preferred.
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred.
- May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
