About The Position

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Tampa, Florida. No laboratory experience is required; on-the-job training will be provided to help new employees develop technical skills and proficiency in common laboratory practices and procedures. The role involves preparing and analyzing bulk and solid materials for asbestos content, performing quality control, maintaining laboratory equipment, preparing analytical reports, entering data, and completing administrative tasks. The position is full time, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and pays $20.00 per hour. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Tampa are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related science.
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Ability to distinguish colors for analysis.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
Effective time management and organizational skills, and ability to multitask and prioritize with minimal assistance.
0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis.

Nice To Haves

Training in light microscopy, optical mineralogy, or use of a petrographic microscope is preferred.
Some laboratory experience in an academic or commercial setting.

Responsibilities

Prepare and analyze bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM, PCM, and/or TEM, including associated quality control procedures.
Determine visual percentages and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system.
Perform quality control practices in accordance with the company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual.
Complete administrative duties, including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports, and answering phones.
Perform other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager.
