About The Position

Working as part of the Trace Organics Sample Prep team, the Laboratory Analyst is responsible for preparing environmental samples for instrumental analysis including maintaining adequate production, quality control, and turnaround times.

Requirements

  • Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading)
  • Basic user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with basic computer skills
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Well organized, with the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions
  • Degree or technical diploma in chemistry or related science discipline
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience working in a fast-paced, production, and/or preparation environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead digestion and extraction of basic and complex samples following documented specific methods and/or procedures
  • Perform any required sample processing (e.g. screening, homogenization, sub-sampling, etc.) including work related to bio-hazardous samples
  • Perform sample concentration, clean-up, submission, and derivatization procedures on all analyses
  • Carry out all required work scheduling and planning activities
  • Carry out all required record-keeping & documentation
  • Monitor inventory of spare parts and consumables
  • Assist with training
  • Review and provide input on SOPs
  • Follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements and adhere to strict QA/QC requirements
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
