About The Position

This position is responsible for the analysis, data processing and reporting of data from the HRMS and GC/MSMS systems. On a daily basis, this person is responsible primarily for the analysis of routine analytical methods, including the assessment, coding, and reporting of analytical data, and instrument maintenance.

  • 2 or more year(s) of extensive lab experience, including at least two years operating GC instruments and processing data
  • Completion of technical diploma or B.Sc. degree in chemistry or related field
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs and carry for short distances
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required
  • Ability to stand or sit for a full shift
  • You may be exposed to unpleasant odours
  • Must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the country you are applying for, or either hold or be able to obtain, a valid working visa

Responsibilities

  • Able to analyse samples for routine organic chemistry parameters with input from others
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure that assigned HRMS or GC/MSMS instrumentation is in good working order
  • Data processing, review and reporting (LIMS and Excel) for a variety of instrument methods
  • Evaluate data and trouble-shoot problems with the data/extraction/analysis
  • Organize workload to meet Turn around Times (TAT’s) and hold times. Must be able to prioritize and multitask as many tests are run daily
  • Communicate with team lead and direct supervisor regarding workload, as required
  • Ensure the quality of the analytical data meets ALS standards
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality
  • Carry out all required record-keeping and documentation
  • Maintain spare instrument parts in good working order
  • Assist in standard-making for the assigned analytical method
  • Assist in other analytical sections of the lab as required
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Work in accordance with the established health and safety policies and procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Other duties as assigned
