About The Position

As a Laboratory Administrative Assistant, you will support both laboratory operations and patient care through a combination of administrative responsibilities, quality control activities, and laboratory support. This role is ideal for a highly organized, flexible professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and enjoys balancing patient interaction with detailed recordkeeping and operational support. The schedule is Monday through Friday with rotating shifts (6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM), as well as rotating weekends and holidays, offering the opportunity to work closely with a collaborative team committed to excellence in patient care and laboratory quality. The Laboratory Administrative Assistant is responsible for aiding the laboratory in administrative areas by assisting patients, performing laboratory clinical verifications, data entries, and administrative duties. Minor technical work includes daily Quality Control, preparing next day patient paperwork, and inventory duties. This position requires flexibility, the willingness to take on multiple tasks and roles, and work with instruction or direction from the Laboratory Supervisor. This position assists patients and andrology personnel to maximize its results while maintaining the required safety, quality conditions and follow all laboratory SOPs. This individual assures quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards; follow practice, physician and laboratory division philosophies, as well as standards of care set by the state and other governing agency regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED – required
  • Ability to physically lift equipment and supplies
  • Some knowledge of OSHA and HIPPA policies and procedures related to the lab and the ability to understand and interpret pertinent policies and procedures clearly and accurately
  • Electronic Medical Records experience - preferred
  • Excel at Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science - preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follows the laboratory’s procedures for reporting and maintaining records of patient test results - specifically patient medical records.
  • Studies and adheres to the laboratory’s operating manual while becoming familiar with quality control policies, documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Participates in laboratory operations and meetings as needed.
  • Confirms patients’ identity for each laboratory procedure performed.
  • Comforts patients by anticipating patient’s anxieties; answers patient’s questions as permitted; maintains neat and clean laboratory area
  • Assures quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards; follows practice, physician and laboratory division philosophies, as well as standards of care set by the state and other governing agency regulations.
