About The Position

Responsible for Seed Management/Yard Crew. This role involves completing daily tasks assigned by the department supervisor, maintaining equipment settings, reporting mechanical issues, performing cross-training, maintaining good housekeeping, and instructing and enforcing company safety rules. The position also requires keeping equipment in good operating condition and assisting in other areas as directed by the supervisor. Compliance with all company rules, regulations, safety procedures, and applicable OSHA, EPA, and DEQ regulations is mandatory.

Requirements

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with l0s and 100’s.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Driver’s license preferred.

Nice To Haves

Less than high school education; or up to one minted experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Complete daily tasks as assigned by department Supervisor
Driving bobtail seed truck.
Cleaning rail cars for loading.
Fold tarps & sort bungee’s and straps.
Tarp rail cars.
Maintain settings on equipment per Supervisor specifications
Report mechanical and electrical equipment problems to Supervisor
Perform and instruct employees on cross training on all job requirements
Maintain good housekeeping practices instructed by Supervisor
Instruct and enforce company safety rules: (IE LOTO, PPE, and Machine Guarding. Etc.)
Report accidents, near misses, and incidents to the Supervisor and Safety Director
Keep equipment in good operating condition
Assists in other areas as directed by supervisor.
Must comply with all PLAINSMAN COMPANY rules, regulations, and safety procedures.
Must comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, and DEQ regulations
