Labor Relations Intern - MN
About The Position
Xcel Energy is seeking an intern for its Labor Relations Department. This role involves understanding the complexities of investigations, contractual agreements, and grievance resolution. The intern will gain first-hand experience at the negotiating table, conduct research using historical archives, and be exposed to legal writing through various communications. The internship will also focus on developing effective verbal communication skills essential for problem-solving and progress in labor relations. The intern will be partnered with Labor Relations employees to support their work and learn essential strategies and tactics for a successful career in labor relations. Topics covered include negotiations, grievance processing, and problem-solving, allowing the intern to hone verbal and written communication, legal writing, and contract interpretation skills.
Requirements
- Current student, Senior or higher
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or Business Administration
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)
- Commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.
Nice To Haves
- 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
- Completed 3 years of undergraduate coursework, including classes in Industrial Relations, Management, Business, Human Resources
- Experience or Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, Co-Pilot
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
