About The Position

Riverside Medical Group is currently seeking a Labor-Pool Hospitalist physician to join our team at Riverside Smithfield Hospital in Smithfield, Virginia. As a Hospitalist, you will serve as the primary care provider for inpatients, overseeing their medical care from admission through discharge. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, patient-centered care and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the hospital.

Requirements

Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Experience in hospital settings and familiarity with inpatient protocols
Commitment to patient advocacy and continuous quality improvement
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
Licensed Medical Doctor – State of Virginia
Board Certified or Board Eligible by [name of approved boards]
Current DEA
Ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care.
Ability to document appropriately and communicate with appropriate parties in a timely manner.
Ability to complete charts in a timely manner.
Experienced in diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions
Basic working knowledge of managed care and Medicare population
Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor
Professional appearance.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients
Diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions
Coordinate with specialists, nurses, and support staff for integrated care
Monitor patient progress, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and adjust treatment plans
Communicate clearly with patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
Facilitate safe and effective discharge planning and transitions of care
