About The Position

The Labor and Delivery Surgical Technologist II is a member of the surgical team who works with surgeons, anesthesiologist, registered nurses, and other personnel to deliver quality patient care before, during and after surgery as well as assumes other appropriate unit responsibilities. A Surgical Technologist is a member of the surgical team who works with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during and after surgery.

Requirements

Fulfills the educational requirements for completion of a nationally and NYS accredited educational program for surgical technologists and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); or is otherwise qualified per the NYS Public Health Law (i.e., candidate provides evidence that he/she worked as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to the effective date of January 1, 2015; candidate provides evidence of completing a military surgical technology program).
1 full year of Surgical Technician in a Labor and Delivery setting highly desirable.
American Heart Association BLS CPR Certification required; certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization (unless otherwise qualified per the NYS Public Health Law)
Aseptic Technique and in-depth knowledge of surgical equipment highly desirable.
Good communication, positive attitude, team-player.
Ability to maintain composure in stressful and/or emergency situations.
