About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. This position is ideal for an RN with recent Labor & Delivery experience who is comfortable caring for patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period. The RN will provide direct maternal and fetal care, assist with deliveries, monitor labor progression, respond to obstetric emergencies, and collaborate closely with physicians and other members of the maternal-child health team. Candidates must hold an active Colorado RN license or qualifying compact license and maintain current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications.

Requirements

  • Active Colorado Registered Nurse license or qualifying compact RN license
  • RN license in good standing
  • Recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
  • Current American Heart Association BLS
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS
  • Current NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program
  • Current STABLE certification
  • Strong maternal and fetal assessment skills
  • Ability to manage laboring patients in an acute-care setting
  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
  • Ability to respond effectively to obstetric and neonatal emergencies

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and immediate postpartum.
  • Perform comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments.
  • Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and uterine activity.
  • Assess labor progression and identify changes in maternal or fetal condition.
  • Independently manage laboring patients within scope and facility protocols.
  • Support patients during spontaneous labor, induction, and augmentation.
  • Assist physicians and providers during vaginal deliveries and obstetric procedures.
  • Prepare and support patients requiring cesarean delivery.
  • Provide immediate postpartum assessment and nursing care.
  • Monitor maternal vital signs, bleeding, pain, and recovery following delivery.
  • Provide routine newborn assessment and support within scope of practice.
  • Assist with neonatal stabilization when required.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and other ordered therapies.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
  • Support breastfeeding, bonding, and family-centered care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Participate in shift handoffs and interdisciplinary communication.
  • Follow patient-safety, infection-control, and maternal-child nursing standards.
  • Respond appropriately during maternal, fetal, and neonatal emergencies.
  • Participate in required weekend and call rotations.
