Their Labor & Delivery service line is powered by deeply collaborative teams, innovative programs, and a shared commitment to equitable, culturally responsive care. They are seeking an engaged, personable, and forward‑thinking Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager to help lead this high‑volume, high‑acuity environment. About the Department This is one of the busiest and most comprehensive perinatal programs in the Pacific Northwest: Labor & Delivery: 30 labor beds OB ED: 9 beds OB ORs: 4 operating rooms Births: ~550–600 per month Gestational Age: Deliveries beginning at 22–23 weeks NICU: Level IV, 77 beds Multidisciplinary Teams: MFM, Midwifery, OB, Family Medicine Specialty Programs: Addiction Recovery for pregnant/postpartum patients, Doula & Cultural Navigator programs 24/7 Services: Anesthesia, Laborist, Neonatology Unit Breakdown: 5 EAST Main L&D: 6-bed OB ED, 14 labor rooms, 2 ORs, Charge RN, Laborist 5 South: Scheduled C-sections, overflow labor, occasional Antepartum/Postpartum overflow, Charge RN The Role The Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager is accountable for the overall management, leadership, and daily operations of assigned L&D units. This leader ensures the delivery of safe, high‑quality, culturally sensitive patient care—24 hours a day—while fostering a healthy, inclusive, and high‑performing team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or ADN with commitment to obtain BSN within 2 years.
  • Washington State RN license (upon hire).
  • BLS (AHA).
  • 3 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field.
  • 1 year of first‑line management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all clinical and administrative activities within assigned L&D units.
  • Ensure patient care aligns with organizational mission, vision, values, and regulatory standards.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor standards of nursing practice and patient care.
  • Lead unit‑based quality improvement initiatives, including development of goals, metrics, and performance outcomes.
  • Conduct patient rounds, evaluate care delivery, and support patient/family satisfaction.
  • Serve as a patient advocate, supporting ethical decision‑making and cultural practices.
  • Drive staff retention through coaching, development, and proactive engagement; monitor turnover and implement retention strategies.
  • Maintain clinical competence and spend time across all shifts to support, mentor, and evaluate staff.
  • Partner with CNS and Perinatal Educator to develop and implement education and evidence‑based practice changes.
  • Participate in hiring, interviewing, and onboarding of RNs, travelers, and residency/fellowship candidates.
  • Hear and resolve grievances up to step two.
