About The Position

Plans and delivers professional nursing care to patients at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Provides care under the direction of a physician and performs nursing acts within the scope of practice defined by the applicable licensing board. The role includes assessing patient needs, maintaining care plans, administering and evaluating medications, educating patients and families, documenting care, monitoring patient condition, and communicating with members of the care team. This is a seasonal, full-time-equivalent 0.9 position with night shifts.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Current Registered Nurse licensure in Kansas or a compact state.
Current BLS/CPR card from an approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first.
ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIHSS, and/or AWHONN certification may be required by department or entity policy.
Ability to apply basic principles of nursing.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
Keyboarding and basic computer skills.
Multitasking and prioritization skills.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Previous experience in a similar environment.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care under the direction of a physician.
Mentor, develop, and train new staff and students.
Perform acts within the scope of practice defined by the applicable licensing board.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills required by unit or department competencies, policies, and procedures.
Evaluate patient needs and review and maintain a comprehensive care plan within scope of practice.
Promote patient independence by establishing care goals and involving patients and families in discussions about medical issues, testing, medications, and self-care skills.
Administer and evaluate medications accurately, manage medication orders, and deliver medications to patients in a timely manner.
Educate patients and families about physical, emotional, and psychosocial aspects of care, disease processes, symptom and pain management, and signs and symptoms of death when appropriate.
Complete timely and accurate documentation according to Health System or affiliate policy.
Observe patients’ physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual conditions and report changes as directed.
Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
Follow privacy and security regulations regarding Protected Health Information.
Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.
Perform other duties as assigned.
