About The Position

The Registered Nurse position focuses on delivering quality nursing care to maternal and newborn patients. The RN collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide services that embody a caring philosophy. The OB RN will also cross-train and care for Med/Surg/EICU patients as needed.

Requirements

  • A two-year degree in nursing is required.
  • Must hold and maintain a Wisconsin Registered Nursing license.
  • Current AHA BLS certification required within 1 month of hire.
  • NRP certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • ALSO certification required within 1 year of hire.
  • STABLE certification required within 1 year of hire.
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring training required within 1 year of hire.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail are required.

Nice To Haves

  • A four-year degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete initial nursing histories, assess patient conditions, and develop individualized care plans.
  • Triage patient care based on presenting or expressed symptoms appropriately.
  • Administer medications accurately.
  • Assess labor progression and manage labor induction and cervical ripening.
  • Handle medical emergencies such as prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, and uterine rupture effectively.
  • Perform and accurately interpret fetal heart monitoring.
  • Manage pregnancy-related conditions, including hypertension and diabetes.
  • Assess and monitor newborns for conditions requiring heightened surveillance or special care.
  • Perform neonatal resuscitation within the scope of practice and certification.
  • Recognize and manage neonatal sepsis.
  • Monitor newborns for adverse events such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice, intervening as necessary.
  • Promote patient education and involve patients in the care of their newborns.
  • Identify and notify the provider of changes in patient status promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient care team.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.
