About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides quality nursing care for maternal and newborn patients, collaborating with other professional staff to embody the caring philosophy of the organization. The OB RN will also have the opportunity to cross-train and care for Med Surg/EICU patients as needed.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nursing license in Wisconsin.
  • AHA BLS certification within 1 month of hire.
  • NRP certification within 6 months of hire.
  • ALSO certification within 1 year of hire.
  • STABLE certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Applicants must possess a two-year degree in nursing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A four-year degree in nursing is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial nursing assessments, histories, and develop individual care plans for assigned patients.
  • Triage patient care based on presenting or expressed symptoms.
  • Administer medications accurately.
  • Monitor and assess labor progression.
  • Manage induction of labor and cervical ripening.
  • Competently handle medical emergencies, including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, management of meconium, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa.
  • Perform and accurately interpret fetal heart monitoring.
  • Address pregnancy-related concerns such as hypertension and diabetes.
  • Assess and monitor the condition of newborns, recognizing situations requiring heightened surveillance or advanced care.
  • Provide neonatal resuscitation as per scope of practice and certification.
  • Identify and manage neonatal sepsis.
  • Monitor newborns for adverse events such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice, intervening as necessary.
  • Promote patient education and encourage involvement in newborn care.
  • Identify and promptly alert the provider about changes in patient status.
  • Effectively communicate with the patient care team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
