About The Position

Reporting to the Laboratory Coordinator, we are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technologist to join our Foster Creek Lab team. This self-motivated individual will be responsible for analyzing oil, gas and water samples from the Foster Creek Facility. While this vacancy is currently at Foster Creek this posting could be used to fill vacancies at any of the Oil Sands Operations sites (Christina Lake, Christina Lake North, Foster Creek, or Sunrise, based on business need).

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Minimum 2-year diploma in Chemical Technology or Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a laboratory.
  • Strong knowledge of analytical instrumentation.
  • Maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in SAGD considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine and non-routine lab testing and data entry, when necessary.
  • Maintain Main Lab by ensuring instruments are calibrated and working correctly and chemical inventory and consumable supplies are stocked, when necessary.
  • Ensure daily Quality Assurance and Quality Control is performed, documented, and charted for all lab instruments and/or equipment
  • Troubleshoot instrument/technical issues along with the resulting documentation.
  • Identify issues that impact safety, environment and/or production
  • Report any safety issues that come up and help contribute to ideas for avoiding accidents and improving the overall safety at the Foster Creek facility.
  • Maintain records of reference standards and materials used.
  • Maintain all reference materials, standards, instrument and/or product certificates.
  • Verify test methods and reference standards are in accordance with the Lab standards.
  • Identify for and lead efforts to improve processes and procedures.
  • Support any other business requirements determined by the Coordinator, Lab.
