About The Position

This is a 10-month temporary contract position for a Lab Technician located in Sugar Land, TX. The role involves performing routine and advanced wet chemistry laboratory testing and analysis, preparing and analyzing crude and related samples, and operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation. The successful candidate will accurately document test results, prepare technical reports, and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies in compliance with safety and quality standards. The position requires collaboration with team members, adherence to laboratory safety protocols, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this role. The role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to drug testing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum five years of experience working in a lab environment, OR, an Associate’s Degree in a related field of study with a minimum of two years of experience OR a Bachelor's Degree
  • Work experience in a lab environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • General chemistry laboratory experience
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as a part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience handling and testing oil samples
  • Previous Production Chemistry / Oil and Gas Laboratory Setting experience
  • Hands on experience with Gas Chromatography (GC)
  • Experience with CHNS Elemental Analysis
  • Experience using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced wet chemistry laboratory testing and analysis
  • Prepare, process, and analyze crude and related sample in accordance with established procedures
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation
  • Accurately document test results, observations, and analytical data
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to internal stakeholders
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and work areas in compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Follow laboratory safety protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with team members to support research, testing, and quality assurance initiatives
  • Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook for data management, reporting, presentations and communication
