About The Position

Under the general direction of the Operations Manager or their designate, the Lab Technician is responsible for the laboratory aspects of day-to-day operations at a water treatment and used oil processing facility.

Requirements

Environmental or Chemical Engineering Technician/Technologist diploma, Chemistry degree, or related field.
Previous laboratory experience is considered an asset.
Competent computer skills.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Motivated, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to work in a team with minimal supervision.
Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
Successful candidates will be required to provide valid documentation confirming their eligibility to work in the country where the job is located prior to their start date.

Responsibilities

Prepare and clean glassware required for sample analysis.
Perform daily water treatment analysis and reports (COD, BOD, Chloride, TKN, PH, Phosphate, Suspended Solids, Sulfate etc.)
Perform analysis on oil process (BS&W, metals, etc).
Perform routine calibration, sample preparation, and analyses using AA, GC, and other instrumentation.
Troubleshoot issues with laboratory instrumentation.
Report analytical results and coordinate effectively with operations personnel.
Maintain accurate records for analysis, maintenance, and production.
Complete documentation for provincial and federal regulations governing incoming waste.
Monitor laboratory supplies and coordinate re-supply requests with purchasing personnel.
Troubleshoot problems and assist with special research, projects or additional duties as assigned.
