Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • 1-2 years laboratory experience or equivalent training preferred
  • Proficiency with laboratory equipment and ASTM testing standards
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and mathematical aptitude
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Commitment to safety, continuous learning, and team collaboration

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collect and prepare samples using company software systems (Venture, Infinity, Hypervu, Schedule Board) according to ASTM standards
  • Execute laboratory tests (LARs) supporting multiple departments: provide material performance insights for Sustainability and Technical teams, deliver product data to strengthen Sales and customer relationships, conduct diagnostic testing for Quality complaints and root cause analysis, and troubleshoot production issues for Operations (die lip buildup, gels, melt fracture)
  • Identify blend information and locate specifications to support testing requirements
  • Operate and maintain 25+ types of specialized testing equipment with precision across three categories: Mechanical & Physical Testing (thickness, impact resistance, tear strength, tensile properties, puncture resistance, coefficient of friction, heat seals, perforation strength), Optical & Surface Analysis (haze, gloss, opacity, color density, surface energy, dimensional measurements), and Advanced Analytical Instruments (permeability (Mocon), thermal analysis (DSC), chemical composition (FTIR), microscopy, precision weighing, basis weight)
  • Prepare samples accurately ensuring proper alignment, orientation, and handling for each test type
  • Record quantitative and qualitative test data with accuracy and consistency
  • Interpret results including material properties, layer identification, yield points, seal temperatures, and film orientation (machine/transverse direction, inside/outside)
  • Compile and analyze findings using Microsoft Office tools; present results clearly to cross-functional stakeholders
  • Maintain organized, safe laboratory environment following all safety protocols and promoting safety-first culture
  • Ensure proper storage, documentation, and filing of materials and test results
