About The Position

Join the MercyOne Genesis Family! We are looking to hire a Lab Technician! As a Lab Technician at MercyOne Genesis, you will be proficient in the procurement of blood samples via venous and capillary techniques, from patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric. You will utilize the Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and resulting laboratory orders from providers and to result laboratory tests. You will educate patients in the proper collection of specimens such as urine, stool and sputum. You will review orders from providers, maintaining accuracy in ordering tests; occasionally must call providers' offices to obtain orders. You will process specimens in the appropriate way, including looking up specimen requirements, centrifuging and separating as necessary, and storing at the appropriate temperature to maintain sample integrity and testing acceptability. You will ready specimens for transfer to reference laboratories, including completing the required paperwork for transfer and ensuring STAT specimens are processed and transported in a timely manner, including calling a STAT courier and completing the necessary paperwork for the transfer. You will perform both waived and moderately complex CLIA testing in hematology, urinalysis, and serology areas under the guidance and supervision of an MLT or MT. You will keep accurate records, such as temperature monitoring, quality control for all laboratory testing and daily, weekly and monthly maintenance.
