The Lab Technician, under the supervision of the Clinical Laboratory Technical Supervisor, will coordinate and perform multifaceted administrative, clinical, and clerical functions. The incumbent maintains a pleasant, courteous, and cooperative manner with patients, visitors, and the Center's personnel. This position is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive inventory of clerical and clinical supplies to ensure efficient and effective operations. The Lab Technician will work with multiple providers, centers, and senior staffing to process samples, perform tests, record and analyze results and challenges. They will answer the telephone, give information to callers, screen calls, and route calls to the appropriate destination in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner. They will obtain and record the caller's name, time of call, nature of the business, and person called upon. They may assist providers and clients with reconciling billing information deficiencies. The role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to express interpersonal teaching skills. The technician will assist in laboratory equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, and ensure proficiency testing is ordered, performed, and documented according to regulations. The Lab Technician must provide excellent customer satisfaction to patients, visitors, and co-workers at all times professionally and courteously, doing things right the first time, making people feel welcome, showing respect for each customer, anticipating customer needs and concerns, keeping customers informed, going the extra mile, responding quickly, protecting privacy and confidentiality, demonstrating proper telephone etiquette, taking responsibility for handling complaints, being professional, and taking ownership of their attitude toward Service Excellence. Adherence to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA Privacy Rule) policies and procedures is mandatory, including completing annual compliance training and protecting patient medical privacy. The position requires adherence to safety regulations, personnel policies, and procedures, with annual Safety and Hazard Communication training updates. Knowledge of OSHA and CLIA requirements is necessary to assure compliance. Yearly health maintenance records, including TB skin testing and completion of the hepatitis series, must be maintained.
