About The Position

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in the sciences
One or more years in similar position or in an academic lab environment
Good interpersonal skills, proven ability to communicate effectively and work well with a team
Valid California Driver’s license and clean DMV report

Nice To Haves

Related science degree preferred.
Courses in enology or familiarity with winemaking and an appreciation of wine a plus

Responsibilities

Sample and perform pH, TA, brix, and nutritional analysis on grape juice and fermenting juice
Sample and perform various analyses on bottled wine and wines in storage
Perform basic wine analysis using instruments such as gas chromatograph, CO2 analyzer, alcolyzer, pH meter, spectrophotometer, autotitrator and chemistry analyzer.
Read and interpret analytical results accurately and efficiently, adhering to strict record keeping policies
Work under pressure with multiple requests, deadlines and prioritization of samples
Chemical preparation (acids, bases, buffers, reference standards)
Responsible for understanding the Food Safety and Quality Management System and related activities, including SQF standards
Food Safety Responsibility: Report problems with the food safety system to supervisor
Work safely and maintain a clean, organized work station
Perform other duties as assigned
