The Laboratory Technician role is responsible for performing all laboratory analyses, instrument maintenance and calibrations, maintaining consumable inventory and sample retain storage. The Laboratory Technician role also performs basic functions in the DCS system and performs SAP transactional functions. The Laboratory Technician works effectively in a team environment with frequent interactions with Packaging Technicians, Blenders and Management.

Requirements

Associates Degree with a Science focus is required
2 years experience in a lab environment. Plus if experience is in a manufacturing facility
Attention to detail, organization, follow through
Experience running typical lab equipment and some advanced lab equipment associated with non-aqueous testing.
Safety oriented.
Strong mathematical skills.
Must possess good interpersonal skills, including the ability to function effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelors of Science is a plus
SAP experience is a plus

Responsibilities

Daily testing samples of raw materials, blend samples and production samples
Daily sample data entry into the LIMS system
Input data accurately into the DCS blending system
Complete all associated SAP transactional functions in an accurate and timely basis
Calculate adjustments and reuse percentages
Support with equipment calibrations, general preventive maintenance and cleaning of the lab
Must operate in an ISO 9001 and Responsible Care 140001 certified facility. Also support the 5S culture
Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion
