This role performs technical procedures in assigned departments, recognizing, documenting, and attempting to eliminate technical problems to achieve accurate and reproducible results efficiently. The technician will maintain organized records with minimal errors, identify and address technical, instrumental, and physiological problems during testing, and assess workload to prioritize tasks effectively. Maintaining a clean work area, monitoring supply inventory, and completing special projects as instructed are also key aspects of this position. The role may involve supervising routine operations of others, demonstrating good judgment in handling unforeseen situations, and optimally utilizing computer systems (HIS and LIS). Knowledge of quality control and proficiency survey programs is essential, including reacting to out-of-range controls and equipment malfunctions, and documenting corrective actions. Preparing and using proper controls/standards, recording data, and following guidelines for out-of-range results are required. The technician will correlate data, monitor test results for reasonableness, detect discrepancies, and perform/document equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
