About The Position

Perform organoleptic (sensory) examinations and physical testing to determine the quality of raw materials, packaging components, and finished products. The testing is done to show compliance with specifications and for overall customer satisfaction. Position also performs a variety of sample and data management procedures to prepare samples for analysis. Position also provides customer service to internal customers.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
  • six months to one year related experience and/or training
  • equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform sensory and defect evaluation of raw materials and products. This involves consuming products during taste evaluation.
  • Test materials to verify conformance to product specifications.
  • Operate several types of basic laboratory equipment such as, but not limited to, pH meter, conductivity meter, analytical balance, hardness tester, disintegration apparatus, tap density, particle size, water activity and moisture balance.
  • Perform Maintenance and Calibration procedures per SOP of same laboratory equipment.
  • Use laboratory chemicals and solvents to prepare solutions.
  • Review coworker's documentation for compliance with SOP's and written specifications.
  • Maintain neat, accurate, and complete records in laboratory notebooks to assure compliance to FDA requirements.
  • Perform data entry in the computerized Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and other Word and Excel databases.
  • Ability to write and review Standard Operating Procedure’s (SOP) for testing methods assigned.
  • Perform other lab-related duties, tests, and projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Log all samples received in the lab into SAP Quality Module following Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Handle special testing requests as needed.
  • Review and receive COA’s as needed.
  • Manage contract lab submissions, sample preparation and result receipt.
  • Review and close inspection lots to forward to Quality Assurance.
  • Manage completed and retained samples.
  • Update and create SOP’s as needed.
  • File and maintain completed analytical reports.
  • Support laboratory associates to maintain and correct inspection lots as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain organized documents and lab samples.
  • Excellent communication skills required with interaction between several departments for disposition of paperwork and samples.
