About The Position

SGS is seeking a Lab Technician for their East Syracuse, NY laboratory. This is a full-time, permanent position. The Lab Technician will be responsible for accurately and precisely preparing samples according to SGS' analytical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role involves working both independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets, ensuring hold times and turnaround times are met. A strong emphasis is placed on following safe laboratory practices and maintaining a safe working environment.

Requirements

High school diploma and 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or prior experience working with one’s hands (Required)
Advanced English language skills (Required)
Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
Basic computer skills (Required)
Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

Nice To Haves

Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years of years’ relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’ analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies after appropriate training.
Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of prep instruments/equipment.
May assist with validation and MDL studies.
Input and maintain technical information as needed to support laboratory functions/operations.
Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Perform other duties as required.
