About The Position

This job is primarily responsible for performing moderately complex analytical and laboratory testing in support of the food safety and quality. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing routine analysis of product testing, checking and monitoring instrumentation performance, conducting tests, documenting results into databases and communicating test results.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 2 years' relevant experience.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Intermediate QA/QC review skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills, with ability to remain flexible to changing priorities.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals).
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow direction and use logical thought process to interpret oral and written instructions, and troubleshoot problems.
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including a respirator
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine quantitative and qualitative inspections and laboratory tests on raw materials, in process and final products independently and support more complex trials and experiments under intermediate supervision.
  • Fully participate in the company Safety, Food Safety, and Quality programs.
  • Ensure compliance programs for all individual testing, including monitoring adherence to regulations and all procedural food safety compliance.
  • Interpret and document test results into active databases and communicate results to internal customers.
  • Run calibration checks, preventive maintenance tasks and simple repair to analytical instrumentation and maintain customer specifications books.
  • Develop food and feed safety, quality and regulatory culture and collaborate cross functionally to build, maintain and improve an effective food safety, quality and regulatory culture.
  • Collect and process samples; utilizing computer systems to input and record data as necessary.
  • Monitor tank levels, product temps, and pressures, including observing readings on computers and field instruments.
  • Inform appropriate manager if reviews or adjustments need to be made.
  • Troubleshoot and operate equipment utilized by the facility.
  • Interact regularly with peers and management to promote a teamwork focused environment.
  • Operate standard maintenance tools such as power tools, basic hand tools, electric tools, etc.
  • Understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Perform moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under general supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
