Lab Technician
About The Position
As a Laboratory Technician on Miraterra’s Soil Analysis Production team, you will support high-throughput soil processing, including preparing soil slurry and sub-sampling for different measurements. You will maintain clean and organized tools and workspaces, help manage sample and material inventory, and process samples accurately and promptly to meet customer requests and deadlines. You will work collaboratively with experts in agriculture, analytics, microbiome, and molecular biology, reporting directly to and working closely with the Lab Supervisor. The position is on-site at Miraterra’s laboratory in Ames, Iowa, and is full-time seasonal (fixed-term).
Requirements
- Proficiency in pipetting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to maintain an organized and clean work space.
- Ability to stand for long periods, up to 10 hours per day.
- Comfort working in a noisy environment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with lab automation and LIMS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Chemistry.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-throughput processing and preparation of soil samples.
- Process soil samples according to customer order requests and in a timely manner.
- Ensure the integrity of samples.
- Clean and maintain equipment, including pipettes, other tools, and the work station.
- Help manage inventory of samples and materials.
- Comply with Trace safety and company practices.
- Perform other duties as needed.
