  • Proven, hands-on experience with PCB solder rework and BGA rework
  • Experience with board bring-up and component-level troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with standard lab test equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and board layouts, and locate components on a PCB
  • Experience building custom cable assemblies and fabricating mechanical test fixtures
  • Ability to load firmware and drivers onto validation platforms
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and accountability to engineering teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

Responsibilities

  • Set up, debug, and maintain multiple types of validation platforms including Eval Boards (EVB), PVT platforms, and photonic interposer test vehicles
  • Promote sanity and regression testing by ensuring proper platforms are running as needed
  • Manage firmware and hardware revisions of validation platforms
  • Fabricate electrical and mechanical fixtures per test requirements, including custom optical and RF test setups
  • Track, schedule, and coordinate equipment repair and calibrations, including optical and RF instruments
  • Support lab bench stations including ordering, setup, and ongoing maintenance
  • Log, track, and mark test chips, PC boards, and small parts; manage handling, storage, and care
  • Maintain calibration records and ensure all lab equipment is properly serviced
  • Manage lab asset database and track inventory of hardware components and consumables
  • Coordinate facility-related work as needed (lab upgrades, AC service, infrastructure improvements)
  • Establish and maintain processes to ensure lab order and structure
  • Execute engineering change orders (ECOs) on PCBs down to 0201 package size
  • Perform solder rework to modify PCB signal connectivity using jumper wires and similar techniques
  • Mount, remove, clean, and reflow BGA chips and connectors
  • Perform PCB bring-up and troubleshoot boards down to component level as necessary
  • Review schematics and layouts of validation PCBs and identify necessary repairs
  • Perform minor FA (failure analysis) on boards and carry out repairs and rework as needed
  • Provide hands-on support to firmware, validation, packaging, and hardware design teams for utilizing various hardware platforms, including co-packaged optical chiplets, photonic NIC cards, and evaluation board test setups
  • Work with hardware engineers and firmware teams for initial board bring-up of silicon photonics and co-packaged optical platforms
  • Execute individual board validation plans and generate detailed validation reports
  • Support electrical continuity testing, optical insertion loss tests (Tx/Rx), and EO loopback measurements on photonic chiplet assemblies
  • Assist with setup and operation of optical instruments including tunable laser sources (TLS), optical power meters, ASE sources, and multi-channel OPMs
  • Handle Fiber Array Units (FAUs) and fiber-pigtailed components with care; support optical alignment and FAU-attach test setups
