We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Metallurgical Laboratory Technician to join our Metallurgy department, reporting directly to our Senior Mineral Process Engineer. Responsible for conducting various metallurgical tests, preparatory work, and ensuring the quality and efficiency of our metallurgical processes, this role is critical in supporting our research and development efforts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, with relevant post-secondary technical certification, laboratory training, or equivalent practical experience
  • Previous experience in a metallurgical laboratory, mineral processing environment, or similar technical role
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and best practices
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or a related field
  • Previous experience conducting metallurgical tests such as bottle roll, simulated column, and shake flask extraction tests
  • Previous experience with rock crushing, homogenization, and related laboratory apparatus setup

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and oversee bottle roll tests, simulated column tests, shake flask extraction tests, and other metallurgical experiments.
  • Receive, inventory, and prepare samples for testing, including rock crushing and homogenization, ensuring accuracy and consistency in sample handling and processing.
  • Set up and calibrate laboratory apparatus for various tests, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Accurately record and analyze test data, maintaining detailed and organized records of all laboratory activities.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are calibrated and functioning properly.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment.
  • Work closely with the research and development team to support ongoing projects and provide technical assistance as needed.
  • Prepare detailed reports on test results and findings, communicating effectively with team members and management.
