Lab Technician II
About The Position
The Lab Technician II receives, identifies, and accessions laboratory specimens to support accurate and efficient laboratory operations. The role investigates and resolves specimen discrepancies or processing issues, performs general laboratory procedures, and assists with quality assurance activities to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with laboratory standards. The position is based at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Cleveland and works evenings from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Caregivers work with the laboratory computer system, tracking software, and devices to maintain patient, specimen, and tracking data. The role also involves preparing specimens for analysis and accepting or rejecting specimens.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of laboratory experience.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree in science; this will substitute for the required experience.
Responsibilities
- Receive and accession laboratory specimens into the LIS.
- Retrieve, sort, track, and deliver specimens.
- Perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve laboratory specimen issues or problems.
- Verify accurate documentation related to specimen processing.
- Maintain patient, specimen, and tracking data using the laboratory computer system, tracking software, and devices.
- Prepare specimens for analysis and accept or reject specimens.
- Perform manual processing, including centrifuging, aliquoting, and routine maintenance.
- Assist with quality assurance activities.
