About The Position

This position involves working in a laboratory environment, specifically within Water Analysis (WA), General Analysis (GA), or Gas Chromatography Analysis (GC) labs. The role requires conducting sample analyses, monitoring product quality, and providing technical support. Safety procedures and compliance with regulations are paramount. The position also includes inventory monitoring, issuing work permits, and documentation. There are distinct responsibilities for both Lab Technician II and Lab Technician III levels, with Tech III having more advanced troubleshooting, calibration, and scheduling duties.

Requirements

Competency to work in Water Analysis ("WA") or General Analysis (“GA”) or Gas Chromatography Analysis (“GC”) Laboratories
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use database systems and other programs and applications used by this position.
Fluent in English language including reading, writing and speaking; ability to read and write at a minimum of high school level; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization.
Tech II: Works under minimum supervision.
Tech II: Two to five years of laboratory experience in a petrochemical plant or analytical environment.
Tech II: Knowledge of and experience with laboratory equipment including, but not limited to, Gas chromatography (GC), and general analysis equipment and methods.
Tech II: Ability and experience in working with batch and continuous operations in laboratory environment.
Tech II: Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments.
Tech III: Works under minimum supervision.
Tech III: Minimum of 5 years’ laboratory experience in a petrochemical plant or analytical environment.
Tech III: Knowledge of and experience with laboratory equipment including, but not limited to, Gas chromatography (GC), and general analysis equipment and methods.
Tech III: Ability and experience in working with batch and continuous operations in laboratory environment.
Tech III: Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments.
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

Technical school degree for the lab or bachelor’s degree in science area such as chemistry preferred

Responsibilities

Conducts analysis of samples from multiple processes and products in accordance with standard procedures, work instructions and methods.
Monitors product quality to ensure compliance to standards and specifications.
Provides technical support and assistance to chemists and engineers as requested.
Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EHSS principles and values; champions safety.
Documents and notifies Lab Staff of any LIMS issue.
Ensures that all Shift Changeover Communications have been completed.
Understands and performs all work following OSHA regulations and Company policies and procedures.
Ensures any employee entering the laboratory complies with all Lotte Chemical safety requirements.
Participates in and completes all assigned training programs.
Responds rapidly and appropriately to emergencies following safety guidelines and procedures; uses equipment, chemicals and procedures appropriate to the situation.
Performs other duties assigned by management that generally fall within the expected scope of this position.
Monitors inventory in applicable lab and documents as needed to order supplies.
Issues work and entry permits for general, hazardous; provides lock out, tag out documentation.
Tech II: Presenter for others on equipment and methods.
Tech II: Ensures that test results are documented in LIMS, Documentation from test results are organized and correctly filed and completes COA's.
Tech II: Reviews methods as requested; assists in setting up methods.
Tech II: Conducts intermediate troubleshooting evaluation of instrumentation, document the instrument issue in conjunction with Lab Tech III and Lab Staff (as needed).
Tech II: Understands and Conducts all applicable calibrations and SPC as required on a intermediate level.
Tech II: Conducts any assigned assessments for Safety and Environmental; e.g. safety showers, waste SAA, etc.
Tech II: Enter Maintenance work requests for repairs such as building related issues, life station alarms, etc.
Tech III: Presenter for others on equipment and methods.
Tech III: Ensures that test results are documented in LIMS, Documentation from test results are organized and correctly filed and completes COA's.
Tech III: Reviews methods as requested; assists in setting up methods.
Tech III: Conducts advanced troubleshooting evaluation of instrumentation, document the instrument issue, repairs upon Staff approval.
Tech III: Understands and Conducts all applicable calibrations and SPC as required on a advanced level.
Tech III: Orders GC gases as needed.
Tech III: Initially responds to calls from assigned Lab Technicians reporting in sick; schedule coverage to cover shift utilizing Work Schedule and Overtime Tracking adhering to Lotte Chemical Overtime Policy (Unscheduled Coverage).
Tech III: Conducts any assigned assessments for Safety and Environmental; e.g. safety showers, waste SAA, etc.
Tech III: Enter Maintenance work requests for repairs such as building related issues, life station alarms, etc.
Tech III: Monitors schedule for Fatigue Risk Management; reports findings to Quality Manager.
