About The Position

Under the direction of the Senior Laboratory Technician and/or Supervisor, this role involves setting up and testing various commercial and industrial fans, ventilators, and related equipment to evaluate air, sound, and mechanical performance. The technician will perform assembly and modification of fans and associated equipment using a variety of hand and power tools, including welding equipment. Responsibilities also include safely operating forklifts and overhead cranes, interpreting blueprints and drawings, supporting shipping and receiving operations, performing dimensional verification of products, and inspecting, assembling, and setting up test units in specialized testing facilities. The role requires identifying root causes of equipment malfunctions and implementing corrective actions, while acting with integrity and professionalism consistent with company values. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires strong mechanical aptitude.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience with sheet metal construction techniques, welding, forming or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Drafting or blueprint experience is strongly desired.
  • Experience with testing and assembly of mechanical equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or ISO 17025 quality management systems.
  • General computer aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and test different types of commercial and industrial fans, ventilators and related equipment evaluating air, sound and mechanical performance.
  • Perform assembly and modification of fans and associated equipment using hand tools, pneumatic tools, electric drills, impact wrenches, welding equipment, grinders, torches, and similar devices.
  • Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move, lift, and position materials while following all safety protocols and maintaining awareness of surroundings and load limits.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and bills of materials to verify correct parts selection and ensure assemblies are completed accurately and in alignment with design requirements.
  • Support the efficient flow of materials through the shipping and receiving department, including loading and unloading trucks, and inspecting, labeling, and processing incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Perform dimensional verification of products according to TCF engineering, manufacturing and quality standards.
  • Inspect, assemble, and set up test units in the UL 705 motor safety testing facility and high temperature system.
  • Wire electric motors to the facility electrical supply circuits via disconnect switches, conduit boxes.
  • Identify root causes of equipment malfunctions and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Act with integrity and professionalism consistent with the company’s values.
