About The Position

The position of Lab Technician will proficiently perform all quality control tests and provide technical support to customers and sales team via email and phone. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, detail oriented, dependable, highly motivated, organized, and exhibit excellent math skills. He or she needs to be able to work both independently and with a team, in addition to being able to multitask in a fast paced laboratory setting. Regular and punctual attendance is required. English is the primary language of the facility. Ability to read and write, communicate clearly with co-workers and customers and to respond to appropriate questions regarding work process or work product. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals as appropriate to the position. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written oral and/or diagram form. Ability to define and solve problems and collect data. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Two years of High School Algebra.
  • One year of quality control experience required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Must be able to pass a color vision test
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on an as needed basis
  • Availability across shifts to cover as needed
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team setting
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good organizational skills
  • Willingness to assume and learn new responsibilities

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree or Bachelors’ Degree Preferred
  • Previous customer service experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily quality checks of production lines, ensuring company and customer standards are met, including the use of pH meters, moisture analyzers, and sieve shakers.
  • Conducts color analysis of finished goods via spectrophotometer and ensures products visually meet industry and company standards
  • Logs daily quality test results into database
  • Files and maintains records
  • Calibrates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment
  • Troubleshoots lab equipment
  • Performs color quality tests; makes batch additions and adjustments as needed
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and skills of persuasion, including the ability to effectively manage others using positive motivational techniques, support, and guidance
  • Sets goals, prioritizes projects and follows through to completion, while maintaining a budget and following set timetables
  • Uses critical thinking skills to analyze and determine the root cause of issues and implement appropriate solutions
  • Seeks out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices
  • Develops, implements, and follows through on incentive programs to improve compliance, cleanliness, and safety, as appropriate
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities and completes duties within allotted time
  • Accesses continuing education opportunities appropriate to responsibilities
  • Always demonstrates honesty and integrity.
