About The Position

SGS is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician I to join their General Chemistry team at their Dayton, NJ laboratory. This is a seasonal, full-time opportunity expected to last through December 31, 2026. The Lab Technician I will be responsible for accurately and precisely preparing samples according to SGS' analytical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role involves working independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets, ensuring hold times and turnaround times are met, and always adhering to safe laboratory practices to maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

High school diploma (Required)
0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or prior experience working with one’s hands (Required)
English language skills (Required)
Basic mathematical skills (Required)
Basic reasoning skills/abilities (Required)
Basic computer skills (Required)
Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

Nice To Haves

Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline (Preferred)
1-2 years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’ analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies after appropriate training.
Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of prep instruments/equipment.
Assist with validation and MDL studies.
Input and maintain technical information as needed to support laboratory functions/operations.
Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Perform other duties as required.
