About The Position

Northside Hospital is seeking a Lab Technical Assistant to support laboratory operations. The position handles laboratory data collection systems and equipment to ensure laboratory test requests are properly ordered, cancelled, and charged for inpatients, outpatients, and institutional accounts. It also performs specimen collection for inpatients and outpatients, along with non-technical specimen processing, preparation, and distribution.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED), or post-secondary education.
• Clinical training in an approved phlebotomy training program; or a two-year degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or a health-related specialty; or two years of experience in specimen collection, specimen processing, and specimen requisitioning for a clinical laboratory or health care delivery system; or clinical training in a Northside Hospital laboratory as part of required high-school or college clinical rotations; or a valid, verifiable phlebotomy certification.
• All applicants must submit to and pass a Color-Acuity screening test.

• Demonstrated public relations skills and service delivery training.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to understand and apply accurate procedures in specimen handling and clerical processing.
• Sufficient feeling in fingers and visual ability to locate patients' blood vessels.
• Effective communication skills and good written and oral communication skills.
