About The Position

Lab Technician III supports new product development, line extensions, cost reduction, and product improvement projects across McCormick’s portfolio. This role provides hands-on lab support, assists with manufacturing issue resolution, and prepares samples for product evaluations, demonstrations, and competitive assessments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience; relevant coursework may be considered.
  • High school diploma and at least 24 college credits or CEUs in math and/or science.
  • Advanced laboratory skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple assignments, and perform effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced PC proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience working in a new product development lab environment.
  • Experience using SAP and DevEx formula management system.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development of wet and dry formulas, ingredient statements, and in-process specifications.
  • Support raw material sourcing, evaluation, documentation, and approval activities.
  • Independently plan and execute assigned project work with limited supervision.
  • Prepare and evaluate samples for internal testing, marketing demonstrations, competitive assessments, internal taste tests, and product evaluations.
  • Collaborate with R&D, cross-functional teams, manufacturing sites, and external partners to complete assigned project deliverables.
  • Independently visit production facilities (Hunt Valley) to supervise trial batches and MAC trials.
  • Order, organize, and replenish laboratory raw materials and supplies.
  • Participate in the selection of appropriate equipment, instrumentation, and laboratory supplies.
  • Obtain, record, and maintain raw material, formula, and project data.
  • Maintain general lab operations and follow applicable safety, quality, and food safety procedures.
