About The Position

McCormick is looking to hire a Lab Technician I immediately at their Maryland Manufacturing Center in Belcamp, Maryland. This position will be on the B Shift (Monday - Friday 2:00PM -10:30PM). Under the general direction of the Quality Manager, the qualified candidate will be responsible for performing analytical, chemical, and physical tests required for quality control of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods. The candidate will participate in investigations and studies to determine cause, effect, and corrective actions required to resolve deviation from quality standards. The candidate will also perform routine sampling and inspection of material. The employee will adhere to safety procedures, ensure a safe work environment, meet and/or exceed product quality expectations, and assist in achieving process reliability goals.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience (manufacturing experience is acceptable).
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
  • Knowledge of PC software and data entry experience
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining multiple priorities; able to work with minimal supervision. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Color Vision (ability to detect color) required. This is due to the need to compare color differences in products on a daily basis
  • Must occasionally wear a PAPR to perform necessary duties on the production floor.
  • Overtime is mandatory at times and regular attendance is required as essential job responsibilities for the position

Nice To Haves

  • A four-year college degree in science (food science, chemistry, etc.) or a two-year science diploma and two years relevant technical experience or five years relevant technical experience.
  • Experience working in food manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of statistics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical testing & record, maintain, and review results/data in the SAP System
  • Using a variety of test methods, procedures, and instrumentation
  • Required to calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
  • Initiate & document Quality Notifications/DMRs/DMAs, including participating in cross-functional root cause analysis. Facilitate follow-up & resolutions
  • Interpreting data and giving direction to the manufacturing group to ensure products meet established specifications.
  • Prepare samples of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods to be sent out for outside testing. Including environmental testing
  • Perform COA verification and raw material sampling
  • Other Duties as assigned.
