About The Position

The PEM laboratory at Piedmont Eastside is dedicated to providing comprehensive diagnostic services to support patient care. Equipped with advanced technology in hematology, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, microbiology, and pathology services, the lab is staffed by a skilled, multi-cultural team. The lab is designed to handle the demands of a busy hospital environment, ensuring timely and accurate results for outpatient and inpatient care. With a focus on quality control and patient safety, PEM laboratory supports the hospital's commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 1 year of experience as a phlebotomist, laboratory processor, or laboratory assistant.
  • Current enrollment in a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician program may be substituted for experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs sample processing and exempt screening and monitoring tests in accordance with CMS (CLIA '88), OSHA and other applicable regulatory, established standards as may be applicable.
  • Performs venipunctures, and obtains/prepares blood specimens in accordance with Piedmont policies and procedures.
  • Assists with both clinical and non-clinical tasks while working under the direct supervision of a licensed medical technologist/ technician to ensure that accurate, reliable results are generated by the laboratory.
