About The Position

The Lab Tech Assistant performs laboratory duties, including registering and accessioning orders, verifying specimen acceptability, and carrying out established pre-analytical and analytical procedures. The role also involves phlebotomy and specimen collection, ensuring specimens are properly processed, and supporting laboratory operations through inventory maintenance, stocking, waived testing, and slide preparation. The position requires travel to off-site locations.

Requirements

• High school degree or GED.
• Ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to engage professionally with staff and patients.
• Ability to travel to off-site locations.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in Biology or Chemistry.
• Laboratory experience.
• Keyboarding or data experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful customer service to patients and the community.
• Collect blood specimens, follow established venipuncture procedures, and transport specimens to the testing laboratory while ensuring specimen integrity.
• Support technologists by loading and maintaining instruments, preparing reagents, thawing and pooling blood products, and importing and issuing blood products.
• Recognize instrument and equipment malfunctions and inform the appropriate people about problems, issues, and resolutions.
• Perform departmental clerical duties, including checking inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
