About The Position

The Lab Tech 2 receives and/or processes specimens, performs clerical checks and support functions. May perform phlebotomy. This role involves conducting routine laboratory procedures where the range of error is limited, sorting, labeling, and recording patient specimens, and setting up specimens, materials, and equipment for testing. The position also requires operating laboratory equipment such as centrifuges and cell washers, maintaining supply inventory, and fostering effective communication with laboratory personnel and other departments. Participation in laboratory projects and educational activities is also expected.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in specimen processing and phlebotomy within a core lab hospital department.
Proficiency in handling blood samples, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and working effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Phlebotomy skill for all age groups.
Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
Ability to work in a team environment.
H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
Less than 1 Year of Experience

Nice To Haves

Phlebotomy National Agency certification highly desired.

Responsibilities
