About The Position

Perform laboratory functions to include analytical and physical testing to ensure that all processes carried out are within the parameters set by our customer's and third party auditing entities. Create monthly lab orders for physical testing, scribe/create metal specimens for testing, and track both physical and analytical tests to ensure they are performed within the required time frame. Perform various analytical and physical tests, create test reports, and handle clerical duties related to lab orders and certifications. Review testing records and monitor tank temperatures to ensure compliance. Communicate with shop personnel regarding issues and adhere to all safety procedures. This position requires access to knowledge and technical data regulated by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory functions including analytical and physical testing.
  • Create monthly lab orders for physical testing.
  • Scribe and create metal specimens for testing.
  • Track physical and analytical tests to ensure timely completion.
  • Perform analytical and physical tests such as corrosion testing, paint adhesion, powder test, plating adhesion, abrasion resistance, coating weight tests, cleaner weight loss, intragranular attack & end-grain pitting, metal removal tests, hydrogen embrittlement tensile tests, impact tests, hydrogen pick-up, Atomic Absorption elemental analysis, potentiometric titrations, acid-base titrations, gravimetric analysis, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer operation and testing, pH analysis, conductivity, and resistivity testing.
  • Create test reports outlining testing procedures and results.
  • Perform clerical duties including filing lab orders, test certs, chemical certificates of analysis, metal specimen certificate of analysis, and purchase orders.
  • Review testing records and logs for accuracy and compliance with shop control and specification limits.
  • Review and monitor the tank temperature recording program.
  • Tag out process tanks when necessary due to out-of-range concentrations or temperatures.
  • Communicate with shop personnel regarding issues with tanks, test specimens, or bath operations.
  • Handle and clean glassware for analytical testing to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Operate corrosion resistance/salt spray chamber and perform minor maintenance.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and utilize personal protective equipment and safety devices.
