About The Position

The Onsite Laboratory Support Technician plays a critical role in supporting scientific research and development by ensuring the cleanliness, functionality, and compliance of laboratory environments and operations. This position is responsible for performing routine and on-request maintenance, sanitization, equipment decontamination, inventory management, and safety inspections in accordance with established SOPs and EHS guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1-2 years' experience in a laboratory setting and understanding of laboratory equipment required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills; display a professional can-do attitude.
  • Perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality.
  • Must be flexible, motivated, and have the ability to act independently.
  • Must exhibit core values and behaviors (Integrity, respect, collaboration, accountability, etc.)
  • Will need to be able to work independently
  • Must have the ability to understand, read, and write technical information.
  • Requires walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that may weigh up to 50lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a GMP facility is a plus
  • Microsoft Teams experience preferred
  • Excel, SharePoint, helpful experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and on-request laboratory maintenance, including floor sanitization using dry microfiber sweep and wet mop operations.
  • Replenish laboratory consumables such as laboratory frocks, laundry bags, bootie butlers, etc.
  • Conduct lab coat services and ensure proper collection for third-party pickup.
  • Assist scientists and lab managers with lab upkeep to support research and development activities.
  • Conduct warehouse counts and laboratory expiry checks; sort and deliver materials to designated lab areas.
  • Manage inventory of operational supplies and communicate restocking needs to the Avantor Site Supervisor.
  • Schedule and perform decontamination of biosafety cabinets, incubators, water baths, centrifuges, etc.
  • Inspect eyewash stations and conduct lab walkthroughs to identify and report safety hazards.
  • Use digital tools to track daily metrics, service activities, and update compliance logs.
  • Accurately record and communicate information to internal and external teams.
  • Operate efficiently within a team environment, with opportunities to work cross-functionally across the department.
  • May include collection, inspection, distribution, & data collection of various types of items/equipment.
  • Understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
