About The Position

Saint Luke's is seeking a phlebotomist/lab support technician at Saint Luke's Hospital. This role involves collecting patient samples using best practices for phlebotomy, documenting receipt of patient samples in the Lab Information System (LIS), and preparing them for analysis. The position is full-time, day shift, from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with three shifts per week and a rotating weekend requirement every third week. Two holidays per year are also required.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient samples using best practices for phlebotomy.
• Documents receipt of patient samples in Lab Information System (LIS) and prepares them for analysis.
• Collects patient specimens in accordance with laboratory's policy, procedures and regulatory standards.
• Correlates patient samples to provider laboratory test orders in the LIS/EMR.
• Performs and reports Point of Care laboratory testing as required.
• Uses education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection.
• Communicates effectively with nursing and unit staff to relay information concerning patient collections.
