Lab Support Technician
About The Position
Saint Luke’s Mission Farms is looking for a Phlebotomist, Lab Support Technician to support our outpatient lab team. The role involves collecting patient samples in accordance with laboratory policy, procedures, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include documenting sample receipt in the LIS/EMR, processing and preparing samples for testing, and potentially performing basic laboratory testing. The technician will use their education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection and communicate effectively with nursing and unit staff regarding patient collections.
Requirements
- Less than 1 year of applicable experience
Responsibilities
- Collects patient samples in accordance with laboratory’s policy, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Documents receipt of patient samples in the LIS/EMR; processes and prepares samples for testing.
- May perform and report basic laboratory testing, as needed.
- Uses education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection
- Communicates effectively with nursing and unit staff to relay information concerning patient collections
